Skincare starts from your kitchen.
Yes it does.
The more I see this whole natural skincare revolution all around me, the more I am inspired to come back home to my kitchen shelf, and whip up a beauty mix.
Here are some comfort foods for your skin:
Bananas: Its smooth and moist qualities make for a luscious face mask. Apply a mashed ripe banana on your face. Mix it with honey for some extra moisture, leave it for a few minutes and wash it off with warm water.
Chamomile Tea Bags: After using it for tea, allow your teabags to cool down and keep them under your eyelids to get the better of puffy eyes.
Coconut Milk and Oil: Coconut is a real gift of nature. Raw and organic coconut oil keeps skin hydrated, while coconut milk is fabulous for dry hair. Mix it with a mashed avocado and apply. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off. Your hair will thank you.
Potatoes: They may be a no-no for weight watchers but are a big yes-yes for skin because it’s loaded with moisture that your skin can drink. Apply the juice on your face, keep it on for 15 minutes and wash off for that glow. Also great for getting rid of dark circles
Basil: A little crushed up fresh basil from your herb garden mixed with water, makes for a perfect paste for repairing dull sun-damaged hair.
Basically if food’s good for your tummy, its good for your skin too.
I’ll leave with you a quick tip for a smoother complexion: Pulp a couple of tomatoes and mix it with honey. Apply it twice a day
